Sometimes friendship can show you the way. When Shaun Weller's mum and stepfather leave a groovy city suburb and move to an isolated farmhouse in northern New South Wales, Shaun is not too happy. He's stuck in the middle of nowhere with no friends and a new school where bullies are determined to make his life a misery. then he meets Henley Mitchell. Bird-watching, orienteering-mad Henley is as big a misfit as Shaun, and before long they become firm friends. Life in the bush becomes more bearable, but the bullying only gets worse. Shaun and Henley are ready to despair when an accident changes everything and leads them on the adventure of a lifetime ne that makes the school bully and his gang see that there is far more to these so-called geeks than anyone realised.
The Middle of Nowhere is Sally Freud's first book for children. Her other publications include Thank You, Goodnight (about the music industry) and Flying North for the Winter (about the Sydney Swans Australian Rules football team). Sally lives in South Caulfield, Melbourne.
