Description

This story is part of Reading Champion, a series carefully linked to book bands to encourage independent reading skills, developed with Dr Sue Bodman and Glen Franklin of UCL Institute of Education (IOE). This book is aimed at Independent Reading 12, for readers aged 7 years old and up, or in the second half of Year 3.

Elephant is the biggest and also thinks he's the best. He's always a bit rude to the other animals, until some clever squirrels teach him a lesson.

Reading Champion offers independent reading books for children to practise and reinforce their developing reading skills.

Fantastic, original stories are accompanied by engaging artwork and a reading activity. Each book has been carefully graded so that it can be matched to a child's reading ability, encouraging reading for pleasure.

Cath Jones (Author)

Cath Jones is a freelance children's author. She thinks inventing stories is the best thing ever. So far, she has published a picture book and early and reluctant readers. She tends to write quirky stories.

She loves sharing her stories with children and is happy to go into bookshops and schools to meet children and organise activities and workshops.

Tomislav Zlatic (Illustrator)

Tomislav Zlatic was born in Croatia. After high school he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Tom started illustrating to earn some pocket money, and an occasional hobby turned into a career as an illustrator (a refreshing, useful job indeed) in 2002. Tom really likes to draw and to experiment with all sorts of media and techniques, always hoping to surprise himself. He lives in Croatia with his girlfriend and a very active cat.
