Reviews

The Thing in the Basement explores how it feels to be the new kid at school and introduces children to the immense power of their own imagination. Good fun to share aloud, it's also a wonderful title for building confidence in young readers who are becoming more independent. A thrilling story about friendship, courage and coping with change.' * The School Librarian *

Author Bio

Michaela Morgan is a long-established children's author with a string of award-winning books to her name, including titles which have won a UKRA (now UKLA) award and have been an International Reading Association Choice and a World Book Day Recommended Read. Michaela has taught a wide age range, from bright-eyed infants to jaded fraudsters and worked in various prisons as Writer in Residence. She is also a National Poetry Day Ambassador and is regularly involved in school and festival events. Doffy Weir always wanted to illustrate children's books and managed to get started when an editor saw some of her drawings and asked her to illustrate a poetry book. She has been drawing ever since. Doffy has two grown-up children and lives in London, which she loves because it is full of different people from all over the world.
