This bibliographical survey of energy and the development of West Africa contains 774 entries and materials on all but one country of the region. Roughly 70 percent of the entries have been annotated, and they cover a wide array of books, journal articles, conference proceedings, and official documents. Most references are in English, and most of the literature has been published since 1970 - however earlier works are included if important to understanding energy in West Africa today. The guide is organized into geographical sections and under sub-headings relating to energy sources in general or to particular energy sources. Entries are grouped under four main sections: developing countries; Africa, continent-wide; West Africa, regional; and individual West Africa countries. Entries are also listed under general sub-headings and in relation to energy sources, such as alcohol, oil and gas, uranium, hydropower, solar, wind and wood.
