Description

The report covers every aspect of the environment, from the ocean depths to the stratospheric ozone layer, from Antarctica to living in the big city. It looks at arid Australia and the ways in which we use our scarce water resources, as well as exploring the state of our natural and cultural heritage and the ways in which modern land managers can learn from traditional land management skills. Seven detailed "theme" reports - atmosphere, biodiversity, coasts and oceans, human settlements, inland waters, land and natural and cultural heritage - guided the development of the 2001 SoE Report. The CD-ROM, which accompanies the 2001 SoE Main Report, contains the main report and the seven theme reports. The theme reports each use a set of environmental indicators developed to identify trends and chart responses to issues related to our environment.
