Description

Directorship in Australia is a vastly populated club. There are literally thousands of individuals actively overseeing the operations, governance and strategies of every sort of company, commercial and government enterprise, and many hundreds more endeavouring to secure a Directorship. It is important that new Directors find a Board where they 'fit'. Almost like a marriage, you have to be compatible. It is vital for Directors to share the vision and culture of the organisation, as well as understand the business and the finances. The legal obligations of Directors are onerous and breaches of your duties can be harshly penalised. Author, Robyn Weatherley wanted to share her many years' experience of working with Boards and Directors, so that new and aspiring directors could take on their roles and responsibilities with their EYES WIDE OPEN - regardless of what type of company the Directorship appointment is with - be it a small not-for-profit, an equal representation Board, government enterprise, tech start-up, or an ASX-listed company. The book is written like a friendly, honest, open conversation with a first-time director.
