Description

This gutsy, revealing book gives readers a glimpse inside the Wall Street banks during the boom economy, and the view is not pretty. Nomi Prins held senior positions at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Chase Manhattan before becoming a journalist, and she is highly critical both of the industry's rampant corruption and the toothless reform efforts intended to stop it. In spite of its appalling subject matter, the book is witty, passionate, and accessible to those unfamiliar with the inner workings of international finance. "Other People's Money" does for the late '90s what "Liar's Poker" did for the '80s - both provide a snapshot of Wall Street from the inside during a particular period of time.

Reviews

"A great crime story in which the culprits get away with larceny on epic scale. - WILLIAM GREIDER "The most revealing description yet of what it is like to work for the mighty Goldman Sachs." - THE ECONOMIST "Exceedingly well documented, this fascinating tale breaks down the interconnected relationship among corporations, Wall Street and government regulators." - LITERARY JOURNAL "Gives a unique and not especially reassuring of the top ranks of U.S. finance....A giddy romp through the old-boy networks and unending power plays of Wall Street, Corporate America, and Capitol Hill." - BARRON'S"
