Jeff Bouwman does in incredible job of weaving his story, mistakes and lesson that he learned- along with his vast knowledge of finances and numbers to really drive the message home in Your Income, You Life. Jeff doesn't use a cookie cutter, one size fits all approach to this book. He gets that each family is different, and he uses principles and ideas that will work for anyone looking to get in better financial shape to help their family. I love how he includes bringing our children into it and how to teach them about money as well. I highly recommend Your Income, Your Life to any parent looking to get control of their finances, thrive with money and leave a positive family legacy. - -
I'll just say that Jeff gets it. He understands that different families have different lifestyles, perspectives, financial difficulties, and strengths. Jeff understands, and emphasizes, that it takes the entire family working together to pull off financial freedom. This book is relatable, Jeff talks about his own failures and struggles, and then explains what he did about. Probably what I like most about the book is the approach. Jeff explains things in a very practical, down to earth way. There's tons of detail in the book, of course, but what made the difference for me is having the conversations and including my family in the finances. Jeff takes a "whole life" approach to finances. And you know what It works. Isn't that the benchmark for any financial or any other self-help book Words and principles are great, but they've got to be effective. Well, my family now knows how much money we spend during a given period, we can tell you precisely when we'll be completely debt free, and how we're going to accomplish it. But on a more day to day basis, we're not living paycheck to paycheck any more. We control our money now, instead of the other way around. - -
