Doak met and worked with some of the biggest names in music and sports, actors and others building relationships in the industry, going for big dreams in life. When a major change in life of moving from the music industry in Nashville back to North Carolina in 2017, Doak felt like he failed on his journey. He felt as if he let himself and others down as he did not write those big #1 songs and all the great things that go with having huge success in the songwriting business.
With no certain direction, fortunately he read a book that taught him to realize everything on his journey is what he did, not who he really is for true identity
Doak's identity all his life to himself was based on his work and going for his dreams. It took a big change and getting away from the entertainment industry for a while to learn what is most important in life and to realize it is the journey not the destination that is most important for a happy life.
100+ stories of meeting and working on events with major artists, Paul McCartney in 1993 for a live TV show in Charlotte and twenty years later working on a fundraising event for thirty fans to meet Sir Paul McCartney and watch him from the stage platform at Bonaroo.
Doak was at an event with Taylor Swift performing for about a dozen people for a SIRIUS XM radio performance in Nashville, he worked with PRINCE promoters and the stories of building relationships in that organization. Doak sat with Shania Twain in a private suite at a NASCAR race a couple weeks before the big album was released. MC Hammer and Tone Loc and "introducing" a singer in Charlotte, NC that led to her performing on tour with MC Hammer,.
Doak was part of the Billy Corgan & "Ghesh" reunion after the guitar had been missing for 27 years.
Doak was a ring announcer for NWA wrestling in the mid 80's and has stories of getting to know and announcing world chanpion wrestlers such as Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors, Nikita Koloff, The Rock & Roll Express, Sandy Scott, Tony Schavanie and other wrestling industry legends along with the story of a wrestling match that he thought he was locked in a cage with a six-man tag team and trying to get out of the ring!
Stories of working the The CMA Awards, CMT Awards, CMA Festival, meeting and interviewing ALABAMA, introducing Flava Flav to basketball star Muggsy Bouges.
Doak has been blessed to meet and know actors, authors, entreprenuers and other amazing people and the story behind the stories of a kid from a small town of St. Albans, WV are in the book.
Doak was blessed to have all-access to pro tennis matches and media centers with some of the greatest players such as Martinia Navratolova, Chirs Everett, Gabriel Sabatini, He sold tickets and helped market the Davis Cup matches in Charlotte featuring John McEnroe and other tennis greats.
Stories of getting to know basketball and baseball legends are in the book to give you insight and just how in the heck did someone meet and work with some of the great names in entertainment are in the book, to inspire the reader.
The book contains stories helping others, going the extra mile, building relationships, taking chances, moving to new markets, and other techniques that Doak learned and used over A Crazy Journey to finally finding his true identity are told in the book.

Doak Turner is a kid from St. Albans, WV that has lived A Crazy Journey of Life. He worked in the entertainment business in several capacities 40+ years in radio sales and marketing in Charleston, WV and Charlotte, NC where he was "Salesperson of the Year" several times in his broadcast sales career and in the entertainment biz.
Doak loved working with concert and event promoters as his clients that opened the world of entertainment and sports for Doak to meet & sometimes work and build relationships with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business.
Meeting 100's of artists over the years backstage, NWA pro wrestling as a ring announcer in the mid 80's in WV, syndication and sales with NASCAR Country Radio Network, Arena Football in Charlotte, NC, and pro tennis events in the Carolinas were some of Doak's happiest times over the years.
In 2002 Doak moved to Nashville, TN to write songs and established two unique music industry businesses, The Nashville Muse & Music Starts Here. The websites and communities became a GPS for creators in Nashville. Doak also hosted 120+ songwriting events in his home in Nashville and was named Nashville Songwriters Association International Ambassador of the Year in 2012.
Doak co-wrote songs with several songwriters that were recorded and performed by several independent artists and he co-wrote a song that was #1 on the Country Christian Chart, "I Talk To God".
Through the Nashville era, 2002 - 2020, Doak was fortunate to work on Music Row and on major events including CMA Awards, CMT Awards, CMA Festival, several television tapings, attend many #1 Songwriter award events, to network and build relationships in the music industry.
Doak is known by his friends as, "A Songwriters Friend" as he helped connect creators on all levels in the music industry with his networking abilities and passion for the entertainment industry.
In 2017, Doak moved back to the Carolinas, continued the trips to Nashville until 2020. Doak found himself feeling like a failure, as if he failed on his journey of big dreams as a songwriter, to write and have the songs recorded by the major artists and to become a #1 hit songwriter and have his songs heard on the radio, television, in concerts and venues. Doak did not have any idea for his future as he closed down his Nashville Music Business and stopped making the trips to Nashville.
In 2018, Doak read a book that helped discover his true identity is not his job/career/goals in life. Doak read "IDENTITY I Am Not What I Do, I Am Not What I have, I Am Not What Others Say About Me. I Am A Beloved Child of God. I Will Not Hurry I Will Not Worry".
Learning the Identity statement, looking over his journey of life, made Doak realize that his work, what he did in life, things he did were not his true Identity. He realized those things were what he did, not who he was in life.
Doak was inspired in 2020 to do what he calls, a "brain dump" and write 100+ of his stories of working in the entertainment industry, meeting people, building relationships over the past 40+ years. He calls it cheap therapy. Those stories became, "A Crazy Journey" (And Finding My True Identity). In 2023 Doak edited the stories with the angle of becoming inspiring and teaching others how tosucceed in their career, and keep a balance of their true identity,
The "Takeaway" after each story explains the story behind the story. The Testimony in the book is Doak's story of his journey from the beginning of meeting famous people to working with some of them, getting wrapped up in that was his identity to himself and when major changes happened, that he did not fail on his journey.
Doak is now very happy in life, living on Lake Norman, NC with his awesome woman Kathy and "Flex" their French Bulldog. He hopes to continue to inspire others with his story and is available to speak to groups, companies, churches and others
