Native American Periodicals and Newspapers is a quality publication which the Board commends to libraries with in-depth collections in this field.-Reference Books Bulletin
This bibliography is an excellent current source of primary serial materials not only about but especially by Native Americans.... It is also comprehensive because of the diligence of the editors in locating ephemeral and short lived titles as well as better known publications in the continental US, Alaska, and Canada. Because of the listing of database access nnumbers and availability in microform, researchers and librarians have better means of locating materials for interlibrary loan or for purchase for their own collections. Very highly recommended to high school, public, and academic libraries whose readers need information on Native Americans.-Choice
This volume offers an invaluable service to scholars and researchers of Native American communications. Danky and Hady have compiled an extensive listing of Indian periodicals and newspapers from the earliest days to the present, with information on library sources for all the listings.... There is little need to stress the uniqueness of this book and the necessity for journalism historians to pay attention to it. If the next decade's texts and commentaries do not in some way reflect the realities evidenced in Native American Periodicals and Newspapers, their authors shall not have done their homework.-American Journalism
