Author Bio

PHILIP G. ALTBACH is Monan Professor of Higher Education and Director, Center for International Higher Education, Boston College. HYAEWEOL CHOI is Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages and Literatures at Arizona State University. She has researched publishing and book development in the Third World for the Rockefeller Foundation and conducted a case study on the role of the ethnic language in the formation of cultural identity. Before coming to the United States she taught at Sangmyung Women's University in Korea.
