While south of the border they are accused of the murdering the daughter of a Mexican general and are given a death sentence. Gus believes the eldest, Billy, is guilty of the crime and swears to kill him so that the youngest brother may go on living. Gus asks his old pupil Jim Glass to finish the job if cancer lays him low. Jim, who had thought he'd gotten out of the bloodletting business, feels he has not choice but to help his oldest friend and mentor and the man who once saved his life. It goes against everything that's in him to join the fight, but sometimes a man has no choice but to fight, even if it's another man's battle.
