Colton Bonner was orphaned at the age of 14. New to the West, he was forced to make his own way in a strange land with dangers he had yet to imagine. To survive, he went from job to job trying to find his place in this new environment. Colton became a cowboy, a range detective, a lawman, and eventually, a legend. The trouble with legends is that someone is always trying to challenge them. For Colton, those challenges grew into a $5,000.00 bounty on his head, offered by his outlaw enemies. At any time, he might be confronted by murderous men looking to earn a fortune by cashing in on his enemies' hatred. Forced to stay on the move to avoid his pursuers, Colton's life became a battle for survival and anonymity. A chronicle of his search for a home and a normal life, this three-part novel follows Colton's travels throughout the American West and his encounters with good men, bad men, and, on occasion, even decent young men simply led astray. It is the story of how Colton came to be a legend, how he came to detest that legend, and how he finally managed to leave that legend behind him.
A West Virginia native, Brent Jones now resides in Moneta, Virginia, along the shores of Smith Mountain Lake. He began writing as a by-product of his various occupations over the years. Eventually recruited by a friend, he began, simply as a hobby, writing and relating humorous stories, poems, and song lyrics on a local radio morning show. After more than twenty years of comedy, he decided to try his hand at something more serious. Always a Western enthusiast, he began with a few cowboy songs and now, at the age of seventy, he has written his first novel, A Legend Untold.
