John Horst was born in Baltimore Maryland and studied Philosophy at Loyola College. His interests include the history and anthropology of the Old West. The Mule Tamer; The Case of the Silver Republicans is part of The Mule Tamer Saga, about the Walsh family in Arizona and Mexico, spanning two generations from the mid nineteenth century to the early days of the Mexican Revolution. His Allingham series, which includes Allingham; Canyon Diablo, Allingham; Desperate Ride and Allingham; The Long Journey Home is the story of a US Marshal in the wild lands of Arizona in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
