Description

Disputed land pits two Indian tribes against each other in a life-or-death battle! Reece Canby spent years as a youngster on the nearby Mescalero Apache reservation. By treaty, the Mescalero tribe owns the Sentinel Basin. But the Mescaleros' grazing land is desired by members of the Teepee tribe, who are looking to expand their cattle herd. TheThe Teepees stir up trouble with the Mescaleros so that the federal government will have to intervene. Dobe and Ponco, two Mescaleros Reece has known since childhood, stand accused of cattle rustling by two witnesses employed by Teepee. The trial splits the town of Cassadora, with Reece Canby and a few others the only ones sympathetic to the Apaches' land claim. It certainly looks like the Teepees have succeeded when the two Mescalero riders are found guilty, but Reece has the verdict reversed after one of the eyewitnesses confesses that the rustling charge was a fraud. Yet Dobe and Ponco are found lynched soon after, and the town's sheriff, who has thrown his allegiance with the Teepees, is reluctant to investigate the unsolved murders. A bloody conflict seems inevitable unless the lynchers can be indentified and brought to justice. It's a desperate race against time for Reece Canby and his allies in this thrilling tale of frontier justice and morality.
