The blade- I can' t break it. It can' t be snapped or melted down. It can' t even be scratched. And it gets hungry. I have to use it, every so often. If I don' t- it' s like a fishhook in my heart. I don' t dare deny it. I don' t know what will happen if I do.
Mero is the wielder of Sheathless, an enchanted sword that extends its owner' s life by draining the lifeblood of others. But the immortality it bestows comes at a terrible price, for while Mero can never die, neither can he truly live. Doomed to an existence of loneliness and suffering, he wanders the war-scorched earth, haunted by a goddess whose voice only he can hear.
Then the goddess sends Mero a vision, and he sets out on a journey to free himself from his curse, a journey that will take him to the edge of the world and beyond.
A journey to Uron, the city of ghosts.
