In 1990, The Daughter of Time was voted number one in The Top 100 Crime Novels of All Time list compiled by the British Crime Writers' Association. In 1995 it was voted number four in The Top 100 Mystery Novels of All Time list compiled by the Mystery Writers of America.
Josephine Tey was a pseudonym used by Elizabeth MacKintosh (1896-1952), a Scottish author and playwright, best known for her mystery novels. Her works include The Daughter of Time, written about the Princes in the Tower mystery, The Franchise Affair on the famous kidnapping of Elizabeth Canning and A Shilling for Candles which was the basis of Hitchcock's film Young and Innocent.
