In the picturesque Slovenian seaside resort of Koper, on the Adriatic shore, a body is found in a lonely, rocky spot on a coastal path. When it is identified as that of a police inspector, Ivan Furlan, his brother is arrested without further investigation, since it is well known that the brothers had fallen out over inherited property.
Then a whistle-blower sends an anonymous message to headquarters in the capital, Ljubljana, asking for urgent assistance to prevent a miscarriage of justice, and Petra Vidmar, the youngest serving female police inspector in the Slovenian police, is despatched to sort things out.Georgina Stewart grew up in Oxford. She gained a First in History at Cambridge University, followed by an M. Phil. in Medieval History. After a short spell as a trainee accountant, she moved to her boyfriend's native Slovenia with two long term goals in mind: to learn another language properly, and to write a book. She has now achieved both of these aims - and she is still only in her mid twenties. She has since returned home but still visits Slovenia regularly.
