In his debut work, Shu Ejima threads a dark tale that combines the stories of a Los Angeles Police Detective investigating a family massacre and that of young Japanese women mixed-up with the Mafia. The tales collide when Yuko, nicknamed Butch, is assigned by her best-friend to transport $75,000 worth of cocaine to a mysterious boy Mafioso named Mondo. A tightly-plotted story filled with action and compelling characters, Quick Draw mixes American gang-violence and police drama with Japanese humour and thrills.
Shu Ejima was born in 1976, and has been a regular participant in new writers competitions. A lifelong fan of science-fiction and fantasy prose, Ejima has also long been impressed by the sense of scale found in Hollywood films. His curiosity towards what readers and viewers consider is "interesting" has left a deep impression on his heart, leading his dreams to create truly global works. In his free time, Ejima enjoys barbecuing and martial arts. Ejima was awarded the 2013 Golden Elephant Award for International Fiction for his debut work Quick Draw.
