Reviews

If youre looking for a first-rate mystery that is full of humour, heart and will also give you the heebie-jeebies, Strange Tricks is the book for you. Charming, tense and addictive, I couldnt get enough of Rosie and will be buying and listening to the other books as soon as possible.

-- Emma's Biblio Treasures

Mysterious, intriguing, humorous and highly entertaining,Strange Tricksis a fantastic audiobook and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end; both the writing and the narration are exceptional.

-- The Book Magnet

The narrative of Strange Tricks is near impeccable. Rosies musings on her surroundings and life in general, are as hilarious as they are relatable. Under a facade of a devil may care, adventurous, rather feisty Essex girl, theres an extremely sensitive and quite a sweet character whose whole life has been defined by a series of unfortunate events which cast long shadows on her future. The world of Strange Tricks offers many avenues for exploration. On the surface, its a well-woven mystery that introduces us to a twisted serial killer. Still, it touches upon the themes of feminism and womens rights without being preachy or reproachful. It takes a dive into the subject with a very cool head and firm resolve to challenge without losing its entertainment value.

-- Caroline Maston, founder of the facebook UK Crime Book Club

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book and was quite sad to reach the end... the nice little hook into the next book has me intrigued too!

-- Brown Flopsy's Blogspot

Both author and narrator are exceptionally skilled and manage to weave a tale that is as compulsive as the summer days are long... All in all a brilliant read, and a series I wouldnt hesitate to go back to!

-- Tomes with Tea blog

The characters are vivid, complex and fascinating. The premise is inventive and interesting and I just love the whole idea of the Essex Witch Museum being taken on by a Benefits Fraud investigator!

-- Live and Deadly blog

Unique and intense... A highly recommended eerie story!

-- Welsh Book Lover

Sleuth in matters of the supernatural, Rosie Strange, returns in the rollickingly funny and spooky sixth case in the Essex Witch Museum series.

-- Peterborough Telegraph

This story has a much darker tone than Rosie Stranges previous outings. She still investigates with the same lightness of touch and determination to confound any expectations of an Essex Girl, while wearing cowboy boots, of course!... Its always fun to spend time with Rosie Strange.

-- Crime Review

Praise for Syd Moore:

I gleefully submitted to a tale of witchcraft, feminism, mysterious strangers, historical atrocities, plucky heroines and ghastly apparitions and came away more proud than ever to be an Essex girl.
Sarah Perry, author ofThe Essex Serpent

'Dennis Wheatley meets Caitlin Moran.'
Starburst

Confident, down-to-earth Essex girl Rosie is an appealing character, and there is plenty of spooky fun in this spirited genre mashup.
