People are dying in the West Yorkshire city of Fordley, from the kind of random, everyday accidents that happen in a busy city.
Or are they Forensic pathologist Elle Richardson, doesn't think so. She believes there's a serial killer, stalking the streets. But with no hard evidence to go on, West Yorkshire police are treating them as unfortunate deaths.
Convinced she's right, Elle turns to her good friend, Forensic Psychologist Doctor Jo McCready. Working as a police consultant, Jo's methods have proved successful in the past. But this time, she'll have to go it alone, with none of the resources or backup of a major enquiry team.
If this is murder, Jo McCready must work out the link between these seemingly unrelated deaths - then get inside the mind of a killer.
As the body count rises, the clock is ticking down and Jo's profile leads her to one shocking and deadly conclusion. When people she cares about are put at risk, it's as personal as it gets and Jo must risk everything to win a deadly game of psychological cat and mouse. Can she prove her theory and prevent anyone else from dying before it's too late
'McEvoy has done it again. A terrifically clever and intricate thriller. The author's background adds a chilling authenticity where you can't be sure on which side of good and evil most characters sit. Brilliant!' - GRAHAM BARTLETT (on A DEADLY LIKENESS)
'Lesley McEvoy knows her stuff' - IAN RANKIN
'This book really got its hooks into me. Highly original and whipsmart on detail, I devoured it in one sitting' - PETER JAMES (on THE KILLING SONG)
'Right from the start you're grabbed into the world that Lesley creates and it's very hard to tear yourself away . . . Heart-stopping and heartbreaking . . . I can't wait to read more.' - DOROTHY KOOMSON (on A DEADLY LIKENESS)
Lesley McEvoy was born and bred in Yorkshire and has had a passion for writing in one form or another all her life. The writing took a backseat as Lesley developed her career as a Behavioural Analyst / Profiler and Psychotherapist - setting up her own Consultancy business and therapy practice. She has written and presented extensively around the world for over 25 years specialising in behavioural profiling and training, with a wide variety of organisations. The corporate world provided unexpected sources of writing material when, as Lesley said - she found more psychopaths in business than in prison! Lesley's work in some of the UK's toughest prisons was where she met people whose lives had been characterised by drugs and violence and whose experiences informed the themes she now writes about. She lives in Cheshire with her partner.
