Description

You can do anything, if you have nothing left to lose...

Struggling to come to terms with the suicide of her teenage son, Ellie lives in the shadows of the Forth Road Bridge, lingering on its footpaths and swimming in the waters below. One day she talks down another suicidal teenager, Sam, and sees for herself a shot at redemption, the chance to atone for her son's death. But even with the best intentions, she can't foresee the situation she's falling headlong into - a troubled family, with some very dark secrets of their own.

Reviews

What sets [Johnstone] apart from many writers in the genre is the sheer realism in his writing. His characters are everyday people who live and breathe on the page and go to stunning but completely believable lengths to survive the horrifying situations they're thrust into. -- New York Journal of Books

The perfect read for lovers of domestic suspense with a hint of crime fiction. --The Suspense is Thrilling Me

Johnstone wastes no time getting to the plot, and each page turn has new plot reveals [and] more excellent character development. -- The Bandar Blog

[An] emotionally driven read...it surprises you until the very end. --Book Savvy Reviews

Readers who enjoyed the dark themes of Gone Girl and Mystic River will most likely enjoy The Jump as well....[it] is an intriguing, page-turning thriller and a worthy addition to any summer beach reading list. --The Reader's Room

This is a book that will give you something to think about with every chapter you finish. --Dystopian Ctzn

A beautifully written novel that spoke to me in so many ways...this book will definitely stick with you after you read it. --Novel Ink

It's a great character study that addresses very serious and delicate subjects in a very tactful way, while also being a gripping read that you can get through in just one sitting! --Joie Des Livres
