In the year 1960, private eye John Nyquist arrives in Delirium, a city of a million borders, to pursue his strangest case yet- tracking down the stolen sentient image of faded rock'n'roll star Vince Craven. As Nyquist tracks Vince's image through Delirium, crossinga series of ever-stranger and more surreal borderzones, he hears tantalisingstories of a First Border, Omata, hidden within the depths of the city. But to find it, he'll have to cross into the fractured minds of Delirium's residents, and even into his own...

Reviews

A disturbing and bizarre journey by one of the great masters of weird fiction.
Clocks and watches form a recurrent motif in this artful, eerie novel that infuses the mystery genre with symbolism and soul.
Noon is the Lewis Carroll of Manchesters housing estates"
Noon is a fiercely urban writer."
Noons blend of quirky ideas, striking prose and imaginative characterisations establishes him as one of the most original voices in imaginative fiction.
Lets call him the first of the psychedelic fantasists.
Humorous, horrific and wildly original an imaginative masterpiece.
Intriguingly textured, reliably witty and inventive, Noons whirling purposeful fantasy packs a full whallop.
"Classic Jeff Noon weirdness with a beautifully crafted mystery at its heart."
Its a heady psychedelic mix, packed with literary allusions, which brilliantly explores notions of self-identity, personal awareness and how we fit into our own stories.
Rich, inventive and recommended.
By writing a novel set in literature itself the author has created anew psychedelic meta-genre as well as a fantastic story that sticks inthe mind long after the novel itself is read.
"An intoxicating and rewarding experience"
One of our finest writers...Within Without is a tour de force of surrealist SF
