First Light is a novel about soul prophesy, destiny, and life in this current evolutionary age. It is the 3rd generation of characters you are introduced to in First Light. They are Morgan and Zach. It is the 4th generation who will do the heavy lifting in the future, but not without the DNA, gifts, and mentoring of their parents and grandparents.
Higher consciousness is asking humans to embody higher aspects of themselves. The evolutionary imperative of the current era is to integrate thought, perceptions, and heart coherence at a higher level in the ever widening spiral experience of life. First Light is an opportunity to experience win/lose situations as they morph into a win/win scenarios. A chance to see what happens when humans use their five senses that are beyond our current five physical senses. Clairaudience: defined currently as hearing something not present to the ear. Clairsentience: defined currently as sensing the emotions of others, clear feeling, empathic intuition. Clairvoyance: the ability to see things that are not physically present. Clairalience: the ability to smell things that are not physically present. Clairgustance: the ability to taste foods when they are not present. Claircognizance: the ability to receive information that comes directly from source, creation, guides, angels, etc.
First Light helps the reader to recognize the five higher senses that they themselves may have already experienced and to affirm that experience. As these senses come into common experience, it is going to be important for humanity to trust them with discretion, use them to live life and in some cases to save lives.
The author has always had claircognizance and sculpted and painted abstract ideas that wanted expression. She co-creates with higher levels of thought. Most all of the ideas that came from creation are about evolution and creation. Most artists have this faculty.
In writing, Carol sees the physical scenes in great detail as they unfold, and hears the dialogue being spoken. When Zach first kisses Morgan in a scene of the book, he tastes strawberries, (clairgustance). As Morgan had not been eating strawberries, this was a higher sense expressing itself in the ecstatic magical moment of reunion, for they were always destined to meet and marry.
Carol brings this evolutionary agenda into the mundane. What does it look like to be in the middle of a universal growth spurt The characters offer us a glimpse into the world we are creating, helping us to see what a new world will look like, one kindness, one dark night of the soul, one light filled day at a time.
First Light is a captivating cultural unfolding of the multidimensional perspectives of human life. It is an enchanting story of awakenings amid the ups and downs of daily living. First Light captures the transitional evolution of human experience which grounds the exoteric (living in duality,3D) and the esoteric (the divine working in practical life: body, soul, and spirit). I look forward to the continuation of the story in the next volume.

Carol Mackay Mertz has been a practicing artist for 34 years. She retired from her active art festival schedule recently. As an award winning artist, she carved stone, cast bronze, created in papier mche and plaster, and painted canvas. After her retirement, she turned to her 30 year old manuscripts.
Before art came writing.
She recognized that what she had written in the 1990's was happening now in the present. Why wait 34 years to pursue writing Her guides encouraged her to write from the perspective of the 90's but that now was the time to continue the story with perspectives from this present moment. She has written 8 manuscripts on this topic of evolution in our everyday lives. First Light is her first publication.
