By all outward appearances, Henry's new family is perfect. But appearances can be deceiving, and it isn't long before Henry becomes a servant in his foster home. The couple that vowed to care for him instead chastise him for his "demons". When they're away at church, their children devise new and terrifying ways to torture him. In the darkness of the basement where he sleeps, Henry's disturbing nightmares send him on a frantic search for someone named Charlie. But who is Charlie And what does he have to do with HenryCharlie struggles through the monotony of his pathetic life: a hopeless job situation, a less-than-average girlfriend, and a longing for booze that won't subside. After his girlfriend, Sarah, is killed, Charlie's creepy obsession with a former lover and his criminal past make him the prime suspect in Sarah's murder. A hasty decision to skip town brings him face-to-face with pimps, drug pushers and junkies. The bread he stole from the homeless shelter and a glimmer of hope get him through, but it's not long before Charlie comes face-to-face with a little boy that will change his life forever. His dark and twisted reality might be his ticket to innocence, but lands him in a prison that is far worse than he ever imaginedBoy Unraveled is a mirror that shines light on the terrible reality of child abuse and everything that's wrong with the foster care system. A harrowing and gripping psychological thriller, it will force you to lose yourself in the twisted minds of the characters, unravel a web of darkness, and realize that everything you thought you knew was a lie.
Chris Bouchard is just a regular guy from a small town. He appreciates art in all of its forms, draws his inspiration from classic literature and contemporary satire, and writes stories that explore the inner workings of the human mind. Boy Unraveled is his first novel, but before that he worked as a freelance writer and spent years working in the behavioral health field. He's inspired by his own life experiences and by authors such as Kurt Vonnegut, J.D. Salinger, and Roger Smith. His father's love for Stephen King and Dean Koontz sparked his interest in reading, which eventually developed into a need to write fiction. Coupled with a strong desire to bring change to a stigmatized mental health population, he became a certified grant writer and has developed a proven track record of helping non-profit organizations secure grant money for altruistic causes. When he is not preparing grants, he is working on his next work of fiction. You can learn more about the artist behind the words, his upcoming books and events, or give him a piece of your mind on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
