Former hockey tough guy Bobby Banks wants to become a better person in order to keep his shaky camp business and family together. But the bank has refused him any further loans, his wife Sarah is keeping secrets from him, and his do-nothing son Sterling has just flunked out of university.
Matt Day, 16, wants to spend time at his grandparents' farm near the Reserve like every summer. But Dad isn't keen on the family's Mohawk culture, and he sends Matt to the obscure Bobby Banks Hockey Camp. There he meets fellow camper Sherry Wong who proves to be as skilled a player as Matt himself. The two teenagers begin a close but competitive relationship. They befriend Matt's secretive cabinmate Brandon.
When Bobby informs his wife Sarah that former all-star Jerry Dunmore will be paying the camp a visit, she doesn't understand why her husband would invite such an arrogant snob as Jerry. Now a powerful player agent, Jerry discovers "Indian" hockey phenom Matt, and he schemes to use him to his advantage.
Matt must begin making his own difficult decisions about his future. Bobby deals with daily challenges as well as secrets from the past as it becomes clear he will have to face-off against Jerry in a final battle for control of his family and his camp.
