Geneva has kept her self-destructive mother, Helen, at arms-length since she was a teenager. But when Helen is injured in a vodka-fuelled accident, it's up to Geneva to give her the care she needs. Geneva has spent most of her life caring for animals. As a vet, she finds animals easier to understand than people and is reluctant to take her injured mother in. But her husband is adamant they help out - it might be the only chance to fix Geneva and Helen's broken relationship. Geneva isn't expecting much, but she might finally get the answers she is looking for.
