Lisa Atwood tried to keep a diary once, but it wasn't a success. Why would she want to write in a book when she can tell her Saddle Club friends, Stevie Lake and Carole Hanson, everything But then Lisa realises that there are times when she needs a private place to record her thoughts. For example, why do people still call her a beginning rider when she's come such a long way And why can't Stevie and Carole understand her desire to be the very best at everything she does, even school And why is her mother always driving her crazy, trying to make her into a perfect lady Sometimes even Lisa's best friends don't get how frustrating all that can be. And then there are the good things, like the excitement Lisa feels when she masters a new riding skill or does well on a test. Those are the memories she wants to keep forever. Maybe a diary is a good idea after all.
Bonnie Bryant is the author of nearly a hundred books about horses, including The Saddle Club series, Saddle Club Super Editions, and the Pony Tails series. She has also written novels and movie novelisations under her married name, B.B. Hiller. Ms Bryant began writing The Saddle Club in 1986. Although she had done some riding before that, she intensified her studies then and found herself learning right along with her characters Stevie, Carole, and Lisa. She claims that they are all much better riders than she is. Ms Bryant was born and raised in New York City. She still lives there, in Greenwich Village, with her two sons.
