Sherry has struggled all her life to understand who she is, where she comes from and, most importantly, why her mother slapped her cheek one summer afternoon so long ago. The incident has haunted Sherry for years and it causes her to dig into her family's fractured past. Soon, Sherry and her mother, Dumpling, set off for a family reunion. What they find on their trip is far more important than scenic sites - it is the assorted pieces of their family's history. Written by the multi-award-winning author Bernice L. McFadden, it is a story of relationships, resiliency and joy.
