When Lynne and Betsy Parker were young, their mother renovated an artist's studio in rural Wisconsin that draws creative women from across the country. These women, known as the Shack Girls, become an integral part of the Parker family. As the girls grow up, Betsy remains with her husband on the farm and Lynne moves to the city. Lynne's life changes forever when one horrific act of violence turned her life upside down. Just as she begins to turn things right-side up, she learns her dear sister Betsy has cancer. Without hesitation, Lynne drops everything to move back to the family farm to help Betsy and her family. As Lynne and Betsy seek to rebuild their lives, the Shack Girls help them discover their strengths, talents, and the unshakable bond between women.
L.A. Scott was raised in Idaho but has lived her adult life in the suburbs around Chicago. She has raised three wonderful children with her very patient husband. Her professional life has been centered in ecological restoration and urban forestry -- an attempt to keep her rural roots in the city -- proving you can't get the country out of the girl!
