Description

Summertime 1983, two young girls grow up in a crumbling seafront house in Dublin in a household which revolves around their silent withdrawn father, an eminent judge.

On the cusp of adulthood, Marie, the eldest, takes responsibility for her young sister Grainne, fulfilling a promise she made to her mother before she passed away.

But then, one night at a school dance, something happens which changes the course of all of their lives.

Reviews

A powerful story ... Walsh shows an innate understanding of people's lives, and the emotional truths that underpin them - Kathleen MacMahon, author of This is How it Ends, on All That I Leave Behind

A brave and thought-provoking novel - Irish Independent

A humane and credible story, as relevant today as in 1983 ... A good read for fans of Joanna Trollope - Sunday Independent
