Description

It's a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen knew more about marriage than anyone else. (Never mind that she never got married herself...)

It's in the midst of the recession when Kate, a freelance journalist and self-professed Jane Austen addict, finds herself single, unemployed and soon-to-be homeless (not to mention about to turn 40).

In desperation she accepts a writing assignment to prove a theory that in the toughest economic times a wealthy man is the only must-have accessory. So, with just Jane Austen's advice for company, she sets off to see if Mr Rich can ever become Mr Right.

Her mission takes her to Palm Beach, St Moritz and London. Where, in keeping company with the elite, she meets billionaires, oil tycoons, and generally men who make Mr Darcy look like an amateur. But will rubbing shoulders with men of good fortune ever actually lead her to love

Reviews

This delightful and witty book contains a meaningful message. A very satisfying read. - Katie Fforde

This wonderfully light romantic comedy reads like a cross between Pride and Prejudice and The Devil Wears Prada - with a healthy hint of Ugly Betty's humour... Fast-paced, cinematic and indulgent, this is the ultimate Martini-fuelled beach read - Red

Kim Izzo has written a humorous and engaging modern day love story. "Kate Shaw" is a romantic who will inspire a new generation, whether they're looking for love, or have already found it. - Nia Vardalos, screenwriter and actress, My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Clever, engaging and entertaining, Kim Izzo's delightful novel is a must-read for Austen die-hards (which means all of us!) and a fun and funny take on modern marriage mores. Life begins at 40, don't forget it - Jane would agree! - Melissa de la Cruz, NYT bestselling author of Witches of East End

A self-professed Jane Austen addict tries her hand at gold-digging in Izzo's charming debut novel, full of lavish parties, frothy escapist fantasy, and hilarious misadventures. - Publishers Weekly

A highly comic read and a must-have for Austenites everywhere - Image

'Glamorous stuff!' **** - Star

A laugh-out-loud read with an enjoyable plot, Kate's kinship to Austen's heroines is sure to resonate with females of all ages - Candis

Author Bio

Kim Izzo has co-written two etiquette books, The Fabulous Girl's Guide to Decorum and The Fabulous Girl's Guide to Life. Her love of manners makes her a devoted admirer of all things Jane Austen and after spending an entire year re-reading every novel by the English superstar author, Izzo decided that she wanted to try her own hand at writing a romantic comedy. The Jane Austen Marriage Manual is her first novel and demonstrates, among other things, what a hopeless romantic she is, even if her idea of romance involves as much sky-high heels and polo players as it does manor homes and brooding bachelors.
