This is the tale of four inner city characters, who find themselves trying to cope and living day to day under pressure from a society that has a schizophrenic, love/hate relationship with them. Wanting to strive but finding themselves struggling to survive, they turn to dysfunctional and unorthodox strategies to meet their goals. However, when their goals are turned upside down by forces beyond their control, they are again forced to dig deep into their bags of tricks to find meaning and direction.
While this tale is also about addiction, how our environment affects our choices and can influence who we are, it is about much more. it is about self-respect, self-realization and transcendence.
This book is really about looking within, rather than looking without for direction.
