After eight years away, Jean Valjean and Cosette, living under new identities attract the attention of their former innkeepers who are seeking money and revenge. With the help of an idealistic young man, the pair attempts to escape unscathed.

Author Bio

Victor Hugo (18021885) was a French writer and prominent figure during Europes Romantic movement. As a child, he traveled across the continent due to his fathers position in the Napoleonic army. As a young man, he studied law although his passion was always literature. In 1819, Hugo created Conservateur Littraire, a periodical that featured works from up-and-coming writers. A few years later he published a collection of poems Odes et Posies Diverses followed by the novel Han dIslande in 1825. Hugo has an extensive catalog, yet hes best known for the classics The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) and Les Misrables (1862).
