Description

VINTAGE QUARTERBOUND CLASSICS Beautiful editions of great books to last a lifetime A beautiful hardback edition of one of the scariest and most ingenious novels ever written. Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the sole inhabitant of Eel Marsh House. The house stands at the end of a causeway, wreathed in fog and mystery, but it is not until he glimpses a wasted young woman, dressed all in black, at the funeral, that a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold, a feeling deepened by the reluctance of the locals to talk of the woman in black - and her terrible purpose. This edition also includes four of Susan Hill's scariest ghost stories- Dolly, The Man in the Picture, Printer's Devil Court and The Small Hand 'Heartstoppingly chilling' Daily Express 'No one chills the heart like Susan Hill' Daily Telegraph VINTAGE QUARTERBOUND CLASSICS- Beautiful editions of great books to last a lifetime

She writes with great power Authentically chillingDaily Telegraph

One of the strongest stories of supernatural horror...the work bursts into life and does not flag until the endWashington Post

Irresistibly dramatic... Susan Hill has done the genre real honourChicago Tribune

It is bursting with classic Gothic horror motifs and Susan Hill is a master of atmospheric descriptions. She evokes so cleverly the decrepit Eel Marsh House, the mention of its name enough to make the locals pause, their faces darken in unspoken wariness The Woman in Black gives a thrilling sense of unease and provides just the right level of things that go bump in the night for a spine-tingling good read.Khoollect
