Description

Unforgettable Island Promise is a historical romantic novel that takes place in the late 1930s at Jekyll Island. A Clubhouse was constructed in the late 1800s by members that purchase the land as a getaway from the northern winds. Once the Clubhouse was outgrown, some members decided to build private cottages that were more like a small mansion to escape the pressures of life stresses. Some of the island workers inhabited the island year round.

Jonathan Blake had been coming to the island since he was a child to spend time with his grandparents who were island workers. For him, the place served as a sanctuary away from the cares of the world. One day down at the beach, he spied a young lady wading along the oceanfront collecting seashells. He had not spoken to her, but his imagination ran wild causing him to eagerly acquaint himself with her before his thoughts became untamed.

Jonathan had vowed never to love a woman. He preferred to keep his distance until one day he casually approached Jane Adams. Remembering her face kept his emotions running wild. Distancing was not the answer. Deep inside, he was convinced of his true need of her.

Something magical was happening amid the Southern Live Oak trees. This fictional story is a blend of romance and reflection. Echoes of the past can be heard from the liveliness of the Red Bug Races, Horseback Riding, Hunting, and Croquet. The panorama of the sunset now held a purpose.

Once World War II came on, life at the island had changed forever. Now, only silence was heard. The island had held many wonderful memories of fun time experiences. Would their past experiences on the island ever return to a normalcy with the sound of laughter being heard Would Jonathan be able to keep his island promise spoken or would he refuse to love and be loved

Author Bio

Lucy Byers lives in Western Pennsylvania with her husband and a chocolate-colored cocker spaniel dog with a lifetime collection of books in their library. Before beginning her romantic novel, her entire career has been devoted in education, working as an administrative secretary in Elementary and Special Education for a local school district. She currently works at a healthcare facility. She obtained her Associate Degree from Westmoreland County Community College with acquiring several honors and awards. She has attended numerous Writer's Workshops and Conferences to enhance her writing skills. Unforgettable Island Promise originated during a summer vacation to Jekyll Island. She felt that her readers' would enjoy turning back the hands of time of a place away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to capture the history of the island with a sprinkle of love between the lines. Viewing the beautiful sunrises and sunsets captivate imaginations while turning the pages of the past down the short winding roads may lead readers to discover amazing places not known to them.
