"The Napa Locket" is a contemporary, literary fiction novel that follows Chanel Lucia Veras, a divorced businesswoman from Berkeley, California. Chanel worked as a bilingual primary school teacher for twenty years but now owns a yoga studio. As she prepares to expand her business to Sonoma, the mysteries of her past catch up with her.
Chanel has experienced debilitating visions her entire life - mysterious images and voices that she cannot explain. In her youth, she often took refuge in the local library while growing up in central Mexico. She became fascinated with mystical stories and books of the occult as she searched for answers. Library books began falling off shelves and appearing on her table as if someone, or something, had gathered them for her. When a chance to study in America became possible, she moved to Northern California to live with her grandmother. One linguistics degree, a failed marriage, and two sons later, Chanel's past has finally caught up with her.
After a misguided purchase on a girls' trip unlocks a dark magic, Chanel must face her visions and learn the meaning behind her mysterious powers. A psychologist, a shaman, a clairvoyant, animal spirit guides, a White Witch, and a new love interest join her as she battles to free her best friend from a deadly curse. Set in the Napa wine country of Northern California, this is a story of personal discovery, a suspenseful mystery, and a heart-pounding romance.
