'When a new Maya Linnell novel lands in the office, we pretty much draw the curtains and shut up shop until it's read.' Australian Country
Bush nurse Lara McIntyre and journalist Toby Paxton find themselves working shoulder-to-shoulder when an accident puts the beating heart of their community in jeopardy.
The small country town of Bridgefield can't manage without its general store and post office and as Lara, Toby and the locals attempt to save the shop, personal agendas, old grudges and misunderstandings threaten their best efforts.
Featuring a black-tie ball, a fun run, a magpie called Vegemite and a snake-chasing kelpie called Basil, Magpie's Bend is a story about rural lives, family, love and letting go.
'Linnell brings a good deal of authenticity and humour to her story ... an enjoyable tale about romance, family and dealing with change.' Canberra Weekly Magazine
