Wikipedia says: 'H.P Lovecraft's reputation has grown tremendously over the decades and he is now commonly regarded as one of the most important horror writers of the 20th Century, exerting an influence that is widespread, though often indirect.'
This volume will introduce a whole new generation of readers to his unforgettable fiction. H.P Lovecraft's tales of the tentacled Elder God Cthulhu and his pantheon of unpronounceable fellow gods were written mainly for the pulp magazines of the 1920s and '30s. These astonishing tales blend elements of horror, science fiction and cosmic horror, the idea that those who delve into incomprehensible secrets and try raising the gods, risk not just their lives, but their sanity.Gathered together in this handsome leather-look tome are all H.P Lovecraft's tales of terror, including the complete Cthulhu Mythos cycle, in their original, unedited forms.Lovecraft opened the way for me, as he had done for others before me--STEPHEN KING
Preposterous, overblown, absurd in every way - yet with an originality that looks more powerful and convincing each time I dip into it.--PHILIP PULLMAN
You need to read him - he's where the darkness starts--NEIL GAIMAN
Howard Phillips Lovecraft, born in Providence, RI, in 1870, was a child prodigy, reciting poetry at the age of two and writing his own by six. His grandfather encouraged his reading and stirred HPL's interest in the weird by telling him his own original tales of Gothic horror. HPL was a sickly child, both physically and mentally and had a nervous breakdown in 1908. From 1917 until his untimely death at the age of 47 (of cancer and malnutrition) he produced many now-classic tales of horror.
