Description

A mysterious force plagues the mining colony of Nur, the only town on Manim, a strange planet in the Zysti galaxy. Once every year, an enigmatic weather event called The Shades engulfs all of Manim, blanketing it in a storm and forcing a planet-wide evacuation. Anyone who stays on the ground during The Shades disappears without a trace.

Azer is a young orphan in Nur with mysteries of his own. His memories are missing, his origin is unknown, and most mysterious of all, he has no face. The story of The Shades follows Azer and his friends as they seek to discover the truth about their planet and about themselves.

Author Bio

Vachel Thevenot is a high school student and voracious reader and writer. He co-leads his school's Astronomy club and has a deep love for space. He wrote his first novel, Legends of Tess: Wild World when he was 15 and self-published it a year later. He plans on writing books his whole life. Vachel lives in Northern Virginia.Chad Thevenot is the Vice President for Advancement at the University of Austin (UATX). With more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and fundraising, he enjoys working with organizations on the leading edge of social change. Chad lives in Falls Church, VA, with his wife and three children. Chad is a musician, cyclist, and avid Cajun cook.
