Author Bio

Claudia Martin is a highly respected author of non-fiction for children and young adults, with an exceptional talent for making complex ideas accessible. She specializes in the subjects of geography, science, and the natural world. Her books have been translated into 14 languages and have sold over a quarter of a million copies. She lives in London.

Alex Woolf is the award-winning author of over eighty books of fiction and non-fiction, mainly for children and young adults. In 2019, he won the Fiction Express Award for his book Mystery at Moon Base One and in 2021 he won the Association for Science Education award for his non-fiction book Think Like a Scientist. His horror novel, Soul Shadows, was shortlisted for the Falkirk Red Book Award. He lives in North London, England.

Claire Philip is an experienced children's editor and writer based in the Essex countryside. She loves writing nonfiction books to ignite a sense of wonder in children, and has worked on hundreds of titles over the last ten years. Her favourite topics are the natural world, science, history.

Dr Michael Leach is a wildlife author and photographer. He spent six years as a cameraman for TV wildlife documentaries. Michael now concentrates on writing books and has studied wildlife on all seven continents. Although enthusiastic about all species, he is particularly keen on mountain gorillas, having worked with them extensively in Central Africa.

Dr Meriel Lland
is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is a writer, photographer and artist with a fascination for the stories we tell of the natural world. She has travelled widely but has a special love of the Arctic landscape and wildlife of the extreme north. Michael and Meriel live in the Peak District, UK.
