Reviews

'Fast and bold and thrilling, The Hidden Room is an audacious take on the psychological thriller that turns the genre inside out' - Christobel Kent

'Corrosive secrets kept hidden with the best of intentions crawl into the light and threaten the happy present. Nobody turns the screw of tension tighter than Stella Duffy, giving it a final twist that left me gasping' - Val McDermid

Duffy roars back into crime writing with her trademark intensity. The Hidden Room is spooky, atmospheric and as psychologically on point as it could be. If you want to be disturbed, read this book. - Alex Marwood

Wonderfully gothic and sinuous, Duffy's The Hidden Room is a top-notch psychological thriller filled with crazed cults, strange occurrences and creepiness galore. A superbly original, highly tense and often moving crime novel - Stav Sherez

A dazzling, gripping novel - the kind of book you can't put down even as the tension rises to almost unbearable levels - William Ryan, author of The Constant Soldier

What a novel - dark, devious and shocking: chillingly nuanced, and with a remarkable candour about it, too. We never stop rooting for Laurie and Martha. - Andrew Taylor, number one bestselling author of Ashes of London
