When eight-year-old Brooklyn Mercer goes missing from Richmond, Virginia, FBI agents Eddison, Ramirez, and Sterling are on the case. They have some misgivings, though. It's nearly the twenty-fifth anniversary of the disappearance of Eddison's little sister, which makes the case difficult for the entire team. And SterlingSterling bears an unsettling resemblance to the missing girl. As the rest of the team stays in Richmond, hitting the streets to question and search, Sterling stays in Quantico to dig into the lives of family members and neighbors.
What she finds, though, changes the shape of the entire case. They're still looking for Brooklyn; she's just not the only one they're looking for. Search after search opens them to the possibility that Brooklyn may be the latest link in a chain of missing girls going back decades, gone missing from cities all over the country. Girls whose families have largely given up any hope of ever learning what befell their daughters. FamiliesFamilies a lot like the Eddisons.
Finding Brooklyn may be the key to finding Faith, after all these years.
Dot Hutchison is the author of the Collector series (The Butterfly Garden, The Roses of May, The Summer Children, and The Vanishing Season) as well as A Wounded Name, a young adult novel based on Shakespeares Hamlet. Hutchison loves thunderstorms, mythology, history, and movies that can and should be watched on repeat. She has a background in theater, Renaissance festival living chessboards, and free falls. She likes to think that Saint George regretted killing that dragon for the rest of his days. For more information on her current projects, visit www.dothutchison.com.
