Seventeen-year-old Trevor Loomis's high school is literally Hell. In an unfortunate theological snafu, Trevor dies and finds himself in the afterlife at Satan's Prep, a Dante-inspired private school for lost souls. From science class (where he's the experiment) to gym class (involving deadly games of dodgeball), Trevor just wants to pass the semester with a 61 percent humanity level and transfer to Purgatory. When the beautiful Persephone Plumm shows up, Trevor begins to see a glimmer of hope. But is Persephone really what she seems And will Trevor ever be able to transfer out of school Or is he stuck for all eternity
Gabe Guarente's Satan's Prep is a clever, engrossing graphic novel for young adults about the classic struggle through adolescence seen in a new wayhigh school as Hell! Trevor and his band of misfit classmates are relatable and funny, and this book is sure to impress both devoted graphic novel fans and teens new to the genre.
Sky Pony Press, with our Good Books, Racehorse and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readerspicture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults. Our list includes bestsellers for children who love to play Minecraft; stories told with LEGO bricks; books that teach lessons about tolerance, patience, and the environment, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.
"Being replete with disfigured students, terrifying monsters and scenes of gruesomely explicit torture, the art is as much fun as the broadly tweaked school-story tropes. . . . Hellishly hilarious." Kirkus Reviews
Smart writing and distinct art play off each other perfectly in this story that transcends the gore-fest comedy genre. What's unexpected: this story has a lot of heart; it also has a lot of severed limbs, eyeballs and other internal organs. Sean Chen, artist of Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men, and The Avengers
Satans Prep is a twisted love story that rocks like hell. Michael Northrop, author of Trapped and Surrounded By Sharks
"Brimming with dark whimsy and razor-sharp humor, Satan's Prep is a laugh-out-loud (and then weep for the horror of your teenaged years) entry into the canon of high school is hell lit. Creative, contemporary, and freshand so much fun it's scary! Hashtag nailed it." Micol Ostow, author of Amity
