Andrew Makuza can't wait for soccer to start. He and his friends are finally playing for the legendary Mighty Bobcats. But a new coach is taking over and nothing is like Andrew expected. The team is running strange drills and the players are feeling beyond frustrated. Will the coach's oddball ways ever lead to victory or is the soccer switch too much for Andre and his teammates to handle
The straightforward writing, easygoing lesson, fast-paced soccer action, and animated, expressive panels make this particularly inviting for reluctant readers, and some closing comprehension questions will make teachers happy. Kids who can't get enough Jake Maddox will appreciate this refreshing format, and soccer fans might get a kick out of the handful of instructions for soccer moves in the back matter.-- "Booklist Online"
