Apollonius of Rhodes was one of the great poets and scholars to serve at the Alexandrian Library in Ptolemaic Egypt, sometime in the 3rd Century BCE. His most famous work is the epic poem Argonautica, which tells of Jason and the Argonauts and their quest to find the Golden Fleece.
