These are mysteries with historical and cultural content. Mortensen is a fun and good-natured hero who trots the globe and travels throughout history. Educational back matter offers the readers more information on the topics covered.
Mortensen is tasked with delivering the ransom for a kidnapped scientist, but nothing is as simple as it might seem. The scientist's kidnappers are time travelers, and they have abandoned him in the year 1901. Before Mortensen can deliver the ransom, he is drugged and packed in a shipping crate headed for Africa. With the help of an archeologist and a pilot he meets along the way, Mortensen is able to find the scientist and unravel the secret behind the rare metal he was studying.
Lars Jakobsen began his art career in Denmark, designing patterns and graphics for the fashion industry. In 1990 he created a weekly comic strip that still runs over two decades later. Ganske Vist (or Coop Ville, as it's known in English) is about day-to-day life in a chicken coop. Lars worked as an animator on two Ganske Vist cartoons. He has also made several documentaries about historic films and events. He has worked as a coordinator for the Consulate General of Denmark, where he helped introduce Danish artists to the American market. Mortensen's Escapades was
originally published in Denmark in 1993. Its high paced and punchy stories made it an instant success.
