Blends an animal story and humor with science facts., Series is a little younger than some of the other titles on the list., Two volumes are available with two more planned for 2013-14., Hilarious. Even the fart jokes.
Winter has come, and Leopold wants to use his invisibility to launch the best snowball fight of all time! His big sister, Celine, thinks he should be using his powers for the greater good. He could catch thieves, stop wars, or save the world, after all! Of course, Leopold would rather torment her. Celine bribes him with some cake and gets him to agree to a snowball truce. But Leo's tricks don't end, they just move indoors.
Snowball Truce! collects 10 more interwoven vignettes from the sibling rivalry of Celine and her little brother, Leopold, introduced in Your Pajamas Are Showing! (2013), who has the mischief-enhancing superpower of willed invisibility. These carrot-topped kids plague each other with snowball battles and blackmail around desserts but conspire together to outwit the babysitter and get back at school bullies, all in colorful cartoon panels. In short, they are loving kids who care about each other almost as much as they care about themselves. Rosemary Wells' Max and Ruby fans will recognize the maturing relationship in these quick adventures. --Booklist Online
-- "Website"Impish Leopold returns for more madcap adventures with his big sister, Celine.
Leopold isn't your typical annoying little brother: He can turn invisible at will. Often using his powers to torture Celine, he occasionally uses them for good. A snowball fight between the siblings causes them to declare a truce, which is promptly broken, leaving Celine with a snootful of snow and a subsequent cold. Seeing his sister ill and unable to leave her bed to watch her favorite show, Leopold uses his powers to enact the scenes with her favorite toys--though of course, he adds his own spin upon it, seizing the chance to give her a good scare. Later, when a group of boys tease Leopold, saying the power to turn invisible is 'a girl's superpower' and 'so lame' (Flammable Man is much cooler), Celine quickly comes to his defense. While the undercurrent of sibling teasing is practically a torrent, it's gentle and often humorous. Oversized panels with a merry, candy-colored palette carry the short vignettes, most only a few pages long. With its brevity and easy wit, this should be a quick sell to reluctant readers.
A quick and enjoyable yarn. --Kirkus Reviews
