"A mysterious group of phantom thieves skulks in the shadows of Tokyo, changing the hearts of corrupt adults. But behind their masks are... normal teenagers and a talking black cat! PERSONA 5: MEMENTOS MISSION is an all-new mystery featuring the cast of PERSONA 5. IN THIS VOLUME: The attempted poisoning of an influential CEO Suspicious happenings at a local doctor's clinic Sketchy job requests at a back-street military shop High schooler and phantom thieves leader Ren Amamiya tackles these mysterious incidents together with his trustworthy friends and the famous high school detective Goro Akechi!"
Gr 7 UpIn Tokyo, the vigilante crew known only as the Phantom Thieves lie in wait, then strike when its time to hold adults accountable for their wrongdoings. Led by high schooler Ren Amamiya, the secretive group has both its admirers and its naysayers. When a case concerning the suspicious death of a modeling industry executiveand the rumored and potentially related suicide of a female modelcomes along, the Phantoms decide to get involved, and thus come up against their most difficult assignment yet, and possibly their most dangerous. The heart and soul of this series is its plotting, with a story that grows and evolves chapter after chapter. It can on occasion be a little too intricate for its own good, jumping around from thread to thread, but the main mystery keeps the pages turning. The host of characters are measured and interesting. While this manga is based off the popular Atlus-developed video game franchise, readers wont need to be fluent in the world to enjoy this book. Its rich, detailed artwork looks great, and the whodunit at its core will appeal to both fans of the game and newcomers alike.VERDICT Whether or not theyre fans of the video game, readers will appreciate the lovely art and spellbinding mystery that this title brings to the table. * School Library Journal *
