Ramiro leaves the British drizzle and his beloved fianc Yoss to investigate his family history back home in Costa Rica. What starts as an innocent fascination with an old family photo album leads to conversations with the older generations and revelations he is not prepared for. This intimate and evocative graphic novel uncovers a family secret, set against the idyllic Caribbean coastline in one of the most beautiful countries in Latin America. Author Edo Brenes weaves together the heartbreaking and humbling stories of three generations. Love and life is a struggle in paradise: welcome to Limn.
Funny and sweetly told graphic novel debut full of reminiscences. * Publishers Weekly *
Brenes digs into the family's secrets, revealing affairs, superstitions, ruined football careers and memories from the civil war of 1948 in this charmingly illustrated collection of anecdotes. * The Monocle *
For a first graphic novel (...) it's sturdy step, and Brenes should become a talent whose work is anticipated. -- Karl Verhoven * The Slings & Arrows Graphic Novel Guide *
Readers who enjoy stories with a strong sense of place, family sagas, or travel memoirs may find enjoyment in this title, and although it reads like a memoir, it is a work of fiction. * Booklist *
I'm a sucker for family stories, especially when there's drama and this is one of the first times I've seen that in graphic novel form. The illustrations were beautiful and so well done. * @raethereviewer on Instagram *
